Shun kitchen knives are made using state of the art technology and are highly esteemed all over the world – each Shun knife is handcrafted in Japan and requires at least 100 meticulous steps to complete. The Shun Classic line features beautiful Damascus-clad blades and D-shaped ebony PakkaWood handles. The result is a line of knives that are sharp, durable, and corrosion resistant, as well as beautiful to hold. The blade, angled at 16°, is known for extreme sharpness and edge retention. Each knife is clad with 16 layers on either side of a core VG-MAX high carbon stainless steel, while the wood grain pattern on the blade helps reduce friction. The D-shaped PakkaWood handle fits firmly in the hand increasing control and stability. The Shun Classic line also offers you the widest assortment of both traditional culinary blade shapes and cutting-edge designs, so you can always find the right knife for the task.
If there is one knife that you simply can’t be without, it’s this one. The Shun Classic 25cm Chef's Knife is an all-purpose blade ideal for a wide variety of cutting tasks. The 25cm length is perfect for preparing fruits, vegetables, proteins, and other foods. The wide blade keeps knuckles off the cutting board and is extra handy when transferring cut food from board to pan. With its curved belly, the Chef's knife can be gently "rocked" through fresh herbs or spices to produce a very fine mince. Shun Classic's thinner blades makes it lighter and less tiring to use than comparable European-style Chef's knives.

I was a bit skeptical about it as I've never used a cast iron frying pan before but wanted to change from non-stick to cast iron cookware. I did some research and found Lodge is highly recommended. Glad to see that the Homestore stocked it, especially the smaller size I needed for single person use. Bought it on sale and must say it is good value for money. Easy in-store purchase, simple care instructions with the pan. Heavy but feels like it will last decades. First use with little oil to coat the pan produced great tasting food, takes a few mins to heat up but cooks evenly with no burn or stick. Highly recommended.
